Cancellation, Rescheduling & Course Policy
At Highlife Powerboat Training, we aim to provide a high-quality and reliable service. The following terms are designed to be fair, transparent, and compliant with UK consumer law.
1. Booking, Deposits & Payments
- A booking is confirmed upon receipt of either:
- A full payment, or
- A non-refundable deposit (where applicable)
- Where a deposit is taken:
- The remaining balance must be paid in full prior to the course start date, as specified at the time of booking
- Deposits are non-refundable, except where Highlife Powerboat Training cancels the course
- By completing a booking, you agree not to initiate unjustified payment disputes or chargebacks. In the event of a chargeback, Highlife Powerboat Training reserves the right to recover any outstanding amounts, including reasonable administrative costs.
2. Customer Cancellations
- Cancellations made between 30 and 15 days before the course start date will receive a 50% refund of the total booking fee (excluding any non-refundable deposit).
- Cancellations made 14 days or less before the course start date are non-refundable.
- For cancellations made within 14 days, Highlife Powerboat Training may, at its discretion:
- Offer a transfer to an alternative course date, or
- Issue a partial credit note toward a future booking
All transfers and credits are subject to availability and must be agreed in advance.
3. Course Start Time (Definition)
- The course start time is the time stated in your booking confirmation or joining instructions.
- Customers must arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.
- The course will begin promptly. Late arrivals may not be permitted to join.
4. Late Arrival & No-Show
- Customers arriving after the scheduled start time may be refused participation where, in the instructor’s judgment, it would disrupt the course or compromise safety.
- Late arrivals and non-attendance (no-shows) are treated as cancellations within 14 days and are therefore non-refundable.
- At our discretion, we may offer a transfer or partial credit, but this is not guaranteed.
5. Weather Conditions
- Courses are designed to operate in a range of weather conditions as part of the training experience.
- However, where conditions are deemed unsafe, Highlife Powerboat Training reserves the right to postpone or cancel.
- In such cases, customers will be offered:
- A transfer to an alternative date, or
- A full refund or credit note
6. Minimum Numbers
- All courses are subject to minimum participant numbers.
- Where minimum numbers are not met, Highlife Powerboat Training reserves the right to reschedule or cancel.
- Customers will be offered:
- A transfer to an alternative date, or
- A full refund or credit note
7. Instructor Illness & Operational Issues
- In the event of instructor illness, mechanical failure, or other operational issues, we reserve the right to reschedule or cancel a course.
- Customers will be offered:
- A transfer to an alternative date, or
- A full refund or credit note
8. Medical Fitness
- By booking, customers confirm they are medically fit to participate in practical powerboat training.
- Any relevant medical condition, injury, or disability must be disclosed in advance.
- Highlife Powerboat Training reserves the right to refuse participation on safety grounds.
- Failure to disclose a condition that prevents participation may be treated as a late cancellation.
9. Liability & Conduct
- Powerboating is an active, outdoor activity and participation is undertaken at your own risk.
- Customers must follow all instructor instructions at all times.
- Highlife Powerboat Training shall not be liable for:
- Loss or damage to personal belongings
- Injury arising from failure to follow instructions or act responsibly
- Customers may be held liable for damage caused by:
- Negligence
- Reckless behaviour
- Failure to follow instruction
- We reserve the right to remove any participant from a course without refund if their behaviour is unsafe or disruptive.
- Nothing in these terms limits liability for:
- Death or personal injury caused by negligence
- Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
- Any liability which cannot be excluded under UK law
10. Force Majeure
Highlife Powerboat Training shall not be liable for failure or delay due to events beyond reasonable control, including but not limited to:
- Severe weather or natural events
- Government restrictions or legal requirements
- Industrial action
- Public health emergencies
In such cases, we will make reasonable efforts to offer a transfer, credit, or refund where appropriate.
11. General Terms
- Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.
- We will always act reasonably and in good faith in applying this policy.
- Customers are responsible for ensuring availability for their booked dates.
12. Acceptance of Terms
By booking a course, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms and conditions.
